Jennifer McKay Newton, driven by a passion for empowering people through scent, set out to launch a fragrance brand despite not being a formally trained perfumer. Unable to find a perfume house willing to work with her due to a lack of industry connections and order volume, she immersed herself in learning—reading everything she could on perfumery, experimenting with perfume oils, and refining her craft. After four years of experimentation she finally achieved results she was happy with, but now collaborates and acts as the creative director on new scents. Being self-taught she knows firsthand how complex perfume-making is and holds a deep admiration and respect for the art and science of perfumery.

I could drown in this. It’s been my signature scent a while now and I’m pretty sure I’m stocked up on the last full size bottles on this Earth and also own the discontinued body scrub, perfume oil, and hair mist. (Don’t worry, I’ve gotten ahold of customer support and they said PAYTON IS COMING BACK! I suggested a FULL line including a body butter and scrub and larger sizes of the perfume oil and mist;) My scent profile is very patchouli heavy, spicy, sexy, sweet, and dark floriental scents (Flowerbomb and Bitter Peach were my previous signature scents). I love to layer this with pure Indonesian Patchouli oil from Aura Cacia to deepen it. This smells like an Arabian woman you walked past 3 years ago and lucked out after searching for the perfume she was wearing ever since. The dry down is truly heavenly. Not sure if I’ve become nose blind but my one qualm would be longevity. I feel the need to reapply throughout the day. It seems to cling to clothing better than skin. Please NEVER STOP making Payton again!!

I discovered DefineMe at a shop on Anna Maria Island in 2023. I fell in love with Khana and, thanks to a gift from my wonderful children it became my go to Summer Fragrance. My husband loved the scent as well!! Hating to put it away for the Fall this year, but not wanting to continue with a post season scent, I wanted to find a scent that matched it, and boy did I ever!!!
