May is Mental Health Awareness Month, so we're putting a huge shiny spotlight on mental health and well-being. Mental👏 health👏 matters.👏 It's so important to take care of yourself both physically and mentally, and we know the latter can sometimes be a bit more challenging. Let's break down some ways to boost your mental health, revitalize your overall well-being, and how fragrance can play a role.

Way to boost your mental health

Taking care of your brain is just as important as taking care of your body. Try to do little things each and every day that are focused on taking care of YOU. Remember, self care is not selfish.

Take a break from scrolling

Scrolling mindlessly through social media can sometimes do more harm than good. Putting down your phone (and switching it to 'do not disturb' if you'd like) can be a much-needed reset. When you do choose to pick you phone back up, make sure that the people you're following on your favorite social platforms are promoting positive mental health messages. You should be following people who inspire you. If any accounts you're following make you second-guess yourself or make you feel anything less than your best, don't be afraid to hit that unfollow button.

Talk it out

If you have something on your mind, speaking it into existence is a great place to start. That can mean calling up a loved one, meeting up with a friend, or checking in with your therapist. You can also try journaling. Getting your thoughts out of your head and onto a piece of paper is a great way to reduce stress, process your emotions, and learn more about yourself.

Take some YOU time

We all get busy, and in the midst of our busy lives, it can be hard to find a chunk of time that's solely to focus on yourself. Make it a goal to find some you-time every single day. Try getting some fresh air and taking a walk outside. Listen to podcasts that promote mental health, or listen to a playlist of your favorite songs. Light some candles and take a long bath. Read a book. Give meditation a try. Practice yoga. Cook a delicious meal. Watch your favorite movie (and try not to check your phone until the movie's over).

Spray your favorite perfume

The connection between scent and your well-being is a strong one. Out of all five of our senses, scent has the strongest connection to memory and emotion. So when we say "smell good, feel good" we mean it quite literally! Spritzing your favorite fragrance can be an instant mood-boost. Keep a travel spray in your bag so you can give yourself a little pick-me-up on the go, wherever your day takes you.

Find what works for you

Self-care can come in many forms, and at the end of the day, you have to find what's right for you. What sparks joy in your life? Find out what that is, focus on it, and choose it every day.
