Did anyone else get the chills?! 🙋 Get to know Alexa in our mini-interview:

You
are such an inspiration, what was your inspiration to be a motivational speaker?

Thank you! In high school I was involved in the Student Government and in my freshman year I attended a Districts conference where I saw my first motivational speaker inspire the audience. This talk spurred the idea of using your voice to make a difference in others lives and from there the need to speak in front of an audience and make a positive impact grew.

What is one thing you want your audience to take away from your presentations?

I want them to walk away with the courage and confidence to be their authentic self.

We all know that public speaking and presentations can be quite…terrifying! What is the the best tip you can give someone on getting over some anxiety and giving a good speech?

Giving a great speech doesn't mean that anxiety and fear isn't present. I still get nervous before some talks! What does help is understanding how to overcome that fear with confidence in your message. One of the best pieces of advice I can share to help decrease the level of fear is this: the audience is on your side!!

Most of the times we are scared to speak in front of a group of people due to fear of judgement or fear we will mess up and the audience will make fun of us or we will feel embarrassed but if you understand that the audience is there to watch you succeed, it makes it less terrifying! Think about it, the audience doesn't want to sit there and watch a bad talk, they want to be entertained so immediately, they are on your side excited for you to inspire and entertain them!

Please tell us about how amazing your Women Empower Expo is!

The Women Empower Expo is a national event that takes place in select cities around the country with a mission to empower women to connect and collaborate to create a positive change in their own lives, their community, and the world. I started the company last year and since then we have hosted two events (one in Ft. Lauderdale and the other in Washington D.C.) each attracting over 2500 women in attendance!

We have seen that when women support one another, that's when communities thrive! Our events feature a marketplace of 70+ local and female-run businesses, inspiring speakers, educational workshops, fitness classes, a networking lounge, and live entertainment. Our next event will be at the Fort Lauderdale Convention Center on October 7th.
